Four Revolutions in Global Philanthropy

Impact Economy Working Papers Vol. 1

The paper identifies and analyzes the four main fault lines that will influence the next few decades of global philanthropy. All are related to what we refer to as “the market revolution in global philanthropy”. As global philanthropy moves beyond grant making and into investment approaches that produce a social as well as a financial return, a variety of what used to be niche activities will be accelerated into the mainstream. These activities seek to marry effectiveness, social impact, and market mechanisms.
