Who we are
Impact Economy SA is an impact investing and strategy firm based in Lausanne, Switzerland.
Our motto is “changing social capital markets”. As consumption, engagement and investment patterns change, companies must adjust how they manage value chains and financial markets how they allocate capital. We believe that it makes sense to take a proactive approach to create mechanisms that bring full transparency to the market, draw together players that can aggregate demand on platforms where risk can be properly defined, and engage the private sector in tandem with the social sector. It is our aim to systematically add value to parties engaged in the structural transformation under way.
Our team in Europe and the Americas provides research, knowledge and executive education, strategy advisory, governance and financial services: we work to enable individuals, institutions and companies to identify and act on opportunities to participate in the current transition to the new paradigm of sustainable capitalism. The term “impact economy” was coined by Maximilian Martin, the founder of the firm, when he was doing research on his forthcoming book on the convergence of business, government and the social sector to describe the historical transformation under way. The term has since become used more widely, influencing research and action around the globe.
Our broad range of clients benefits from the experience, networks and processes built by the founder and leadership team in the past decade, having launched Europe’s first philanthropic services department for a large bank, Europe’s first university course on social entrepreneurship, conducted numerous advisory and investment mandates, and taken part in several important innovations in philanthropy and social finance around the world.
